Kolkata. Ending Sunday's fourth day of the first Test against Sri Lanka, India finished the day with 171 runs on the loss of one wicket in the second innings. With this, India has taken the lead of 49 runs in Sri Lanka. Lokesh Rahul is unbeaten on 73, while Cheteshwar Pujara is on a wicket with two runs.

India lost the only wicket of Shikhar Dhawan (95) in their day. Dhawan missed the century by five runs. He played 116 balls and also hit two sixes with 11 four. He was caught by Dasun Shanaaka at the hands of Nirodhan Dikwela on the back of the wicket.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had reconciled India to 171 in the first innings and took the lead of 122 runs in their first innings, scoring 294 runs. Harmeet (67), Lahiru Thirimane (51) and Angelo Mathews (52) got the hand of the half-century in hand to give the hosts an edge.

Earlier, fast bowler Mohammad Shami bowled in the right foot while bowling in the right foot, took three wickets in the morning session, but Sri Lankan batsmen batted with patience in the lower order, bringing Sri Lanka to 294 in the first innings.
